Why Cub Scouts?

Since its origin, the Scouting program has been an educational experience concerned with values. In 1910, the first activities for Scouts were designed to build character, physical fitness, practical skills, and service. These elements were part of the original Cub Scout program and continue to be part of Cub Scouting today. Character development should extend into every aspect of a boy or girls’s life. Character development should also extend into every aspect of Cub Scouting. Cub Scout leaders should strive to use Cub Scouting’s 12 core values throughout all elements of the program—service projects, ceremonies, games, skits, songs, crafts, and all the other activities enjoyed at den and pack meetings.

Cub Scout Ranks

Cub Scouts earn Adventures that are specific to their grade and rank. A number of Adventures must be completed to earn the badge of rank for each grade level. Completion of Adventures is how the aims of character, citizenship, leadership, and personal fitness are developed.

A Community Effort

Cub Scouts is more than just a fun activity for boys and girls; it’s a community-building experience. It’s a place where young boys and girls can learn valuable life skills, make lifelong friends, and develop a sense of belonging. But it’s also a place where the entire community can come together to support and nurture the next generation of leaders.

The Role of the Community

A successful Cub Scout pack relies heavily on the support of the community. Parents and guardians provide the foundation by volunteering their time and resources. Local businesses offer donations and sponsorships. Schools and churches provide meeting spaces and support activities. And the community as a whole helps to create a positive and supportive environment for the boys and girls.
